As soon as Bali government completed construction of the new By Pass Ida Bagus Mantra connecting Sanur-Bali’s oldest beach resort town – and Padang Bali, the sleeping beauties in the hidden paradise of East Bali started to rise up. The new road cuts down the travel time between the greater South of Bali where the most tourism activities are centered to Candidasa down to less than one hour through a scenic drive along the beautiful South-East coast.
Being the nearest holiday resort of East Bali, Candidasa is considered as the gate to even more beautiful natural attractions in the area. Unfortunately narrow and bumpy road taking more than two hours to travel to has put Candiasa away from tourists’ interest for at least the last decades.
Now the home to a number of world’s most beautiful resort hotels such as Aman and Alila is gaining its popularity back. More and more foreign tourists, especially those who are interested in marine biodiversity either by scuba diving or snorkeling, come to Candidasa and even beyond.
Similar to the trend in other island’s resort areas, as alternative to resort hotels, investors have started to offer Bali villas as up market accommodation options. A few have started to open their doors to discerning holiday makers whilst many more are under construction.
